92 NS90A oil output

When performing the oil pump output function test for this engine the manual is unclear, are you supposed to measure the oil out put from only one or all three of the hoses??? or am I completely lost??

Also is the pump adjustable or is it precalibrated with the scribed lines and such??

The pump is adjustable and you are lost...Think factory service manual rather than whatever you have.

The manual I have is a 3 & 4 cylinder Tohatsu manual

It says to

"disconnect the oil pump output hose from the automixing check valve and route the hose into a clean graduated container"

my oilpump has an output hose for each cylinder with a check valve for each one.

and for the aperture adjustment it just indicated the scibe marks to have lined up on the control lever @ closed and open throttle, nowhere does it state how to adjust the throttle lever or pump for proper oil out put.

At this point I'd rather take it the a dealer but the closest one is Amish and really only deals with small Tohatsu's, and the next closest aren't very reputable, other than that its about 1.5 hrs to drive.

I dunno, any help is appreciated

Okay, there is an adjustment screw on the oil pump itself. Once you measure the existing flow rate you simply tweak the screw, measure again, tweak the crew, measure again, etc until you get the correct flow rate. But, the pump cannot come out of adjustment by itself so unless you suspect tampering you are probably not going to end up adjusting anything. The flow rate should be in the manual...I don't have one with me at home to give you that now. Are you sure the rate isn't given?

Yeah Amish, thats pretty funny, anyway the manual gives a flow rate of 1.1-1.4 flow oz/ min, but thanks I will verify rate then if not look for the screw. I honestly don't know the engines prior service history I bought it last sept, don't know if the pump was ever adjusted or tampered with. The engine has never run right since I bought it.
