Sluggish from idle to plane. Once up runs fast and good. Cruise speed fine. Idle speed fine.
Rebuilt carbs. New plugs.

All other things being correct, you may be over-propped. What is your maximum RPM at WOT?

Re: 93' 115 Evin. slow to get on plane

ezeke,
Im running the original 3 blade 19' pitch. I usually run a 17' because Im more interested in getting up fast than top end. My 17' has been drug through t
he sand too much for Nettles to rebuild.
Taking it out tomorrow afternoon for a test and will make note of rpm's during operation.
I'll post results here.
Thanks.

Right. If you want to get out of the hole faster, lower the pitch, don't raise it.

If you prop to max at 5800 RPM with your average load at WOT, you will not lug your engine.

+1 on the prop pitch if that is the only change you made.

Thanks so much for the input.
Due to work and rain I was not able to get on the water today.
Tryin for tomorrow.
Going to run the 19', log rpms and perfom. then put the old 17' on and compare.
If it seems to make a big enough difference I'll just purchase a new stainless 17'. The old one is very thin but should be functional.

Normally, you should find about 300 rpm difference between a new 17 aluminum prop and a new 19 aluminum prop.

I'll check the diff. in rpm..
I wish I could use aluminum or composite. It would be more affordable but it's a salt rig and run very shallow in sand and mud.
Have to stick to stainless.

Quick final update.
It was indeed the prop..
Went a little overboard and purchased a 15' pitch, four blade stainless.
Get's up from idle speed to full plane in less than 5 seconds. Full speed in under 10..
About 4900 rpm. WOT= 35 mph (according to GPS).
Fast enough.
I'll be on the flats all weekend shining the new prop..
Thank you for the input.
This has been a very helpful message board.

I would say that you are still way over propped if your WOT is 4,900 RPM.
You ar "lugging" the motor.

Im not so sure about trusting my tach..
It went to zero a few times during operation.
Just by feel it's running better than ever.
I'll know what needs to be tweaked by next Monday.
Will be running and gunnig some very shallow water all weekend.
