started it up this morning on the hose and noticed that that is a popping (caughing) quite a bit untill it warms up. had to restart it 2 times due to it popping and stalling out. runs perfect atfer this popping goes away.just did comp and plugs 1 month ago and had 105 give or or take 2 psi per cylinder. carbs redone late last spring. i decarbed it about a month ago this may be the culprit. used brp engine tuner. i run this engine every week on or off the water. it used to pop once maybe twice but not stall out like this. any knowedge is appreciated.

did you replace the spark plugs after decarb. if not they are burnt up from decarb.

actually i had a old set i put on for decarb procedure (ran cleaner through let sit for 3 hrs and ran at 1500 for 15 min. but put newer ones back on to run it the next day out on the water. could there have still been that much carbon left in it? do fouled plugs make it cough on cold starts and run fine when warmed?

It's a de-carbon treatment to rid the firing chambers, rings etc. of built up carbon.

Use the schrader valve on your primer solenoid with injector hose #0763644 and aerosol carbon treatment like BRP/Evinrude Engine Tuner for best results. You can also use the aerosol form of SeaFoam with the injector hose.

For a badly coked engine you may need to do three treatments to finish the job.

After a de-carbon treatment you should service your recirculation check valves - they usually get clogged.

there is excesive smoke on unitial startup what are recirculation valves? these could cause this? or are plugs most likely the culprit. what could possibly cause these symptoms
