Can someone please help me with how to flush the fluid from my tilt and trim. Also would like instructions for bleeding. I removed the reservoir cover with the unit up and fluid came out. Thank you for your help

Boatingdobbins

Normally it is not nessesary to flush your T&T unit. But, if you want to renew the fluid, you would have to remove the fill screw and syphon out as much as you can. Refill with new fluid and replace the screw loosely. Cycle the unit up and down 4 or 5 times. Syphon it out again and refill again. Leave the screw loose and cycle the unit up and down 5 times and recheck the fluid. Top off as nessesary and you're done. That's about the best you can do without removing the unit and completly draining it. Is there a problem or are you just looking to maintain it?

Re: '93 225 tilt/trim flush and bleed instructions

It was making a sound like it was low on fluid last year. This weekend, I removed the reservoir cap when the motor was tilted up and fluid ran out. I captured the fluid and it was very dark - Not sure if that means anything.

Since fluid ran out when I removed the reservoir cap, I don't know if it was overfilled or not. I don't know how much, if any fluid I will be able to add. The reservoir cap looks like it is in the bottom third of the reservoir. The reservoir has lines on it, but there is no way I could fill to that level.

Thank you for your reply!
