This past weekend I was running my boat and after we trolled for about 45 minutes, the alarm sounded [slow back to back beeps] so I shut it off and fished for a bit, then when I started it again it smoked [pretty good] and I tried to run it then the beeps started again.

I read on line to clean out the tank and make sure the "sock" was not clogged - in cleaning the tank I found a think residue on the bottom of the tank [oil was about 3/4 full] so I dumped it all out... not sure what that was - but what are your thoughts on this? what steps should I take from here?

THanks

I guess - my best description of it was a loose egg white. at the bottom of the oil tank... is that normal?

Some brands of oil will gel up. What oil are you using?

That oil should certianly not do it. If it did gel up and caused a restriction at the oil pick up tube that would explain the alarm.

Have you had a chance to run it since you cleaned it out?
