'93 8 hp driveshaft came out while changing H20 pump

While changing the water pump the driveshaft came out of the lower unit. Is this normal? Worried it may now leak water into lower unit.

i am not sure but i think the lower unit will have to be turn apart now.sorry.my manual said to be careful not to do this.good time to get a manual.good luck

As far as I remember those driveshafts are only slipped down into splines. There is no nut or anything at lower end. If thats the case, only worry is if you accidentily should harm seals pulling it out. Oil everything and put it back in. Change lower unit oil and watch it after and hour or so running if it gets milky. I dont think you hurt anything.
