I've got a 1993 Evinrude 50hp on a 15.8ft Quantum fiberglass fish and ski. My question is what do you think the top speed should be of this set-up. The boat itself weights approximately 1,000lbs dry without gas, cargo, passengers etc...
The engine was rebuilt by a marina and installed by them about 2 weeks ago. I've since broken it in with 25:1 oil ratio and have now switched to 50:1. There is probably close to about 20 hours on the engine.
I previously had an '89 Force 50 on this same set-up and by myself I got about 27mph GPS. With this new Evinrude I got to 23mph GPS by myself with the wind. Why the big difference? I was told the Force was rated at the powerhead and actually only had 33hp at the prop whereas this Evinrude should be 50hp at the prop. I was also told they bored the engine over slightly to about 55hp...
