93 Evinrude 6HP Throttle adjustment

When the throttle returns to idle, their seems to be slack in the linkage, or most likely a stretched cable and so at the carburator all does not go back to its idle point, rather, runs too fast. If I manually move it back, it works.

How can one tighten the throttle cable, or make it so the situation automatically returns to proper idle speed.

Is there a way to simply tighten the cable portion, or am I missing something in terms of what makes it return to proper idle?

Thanks

Re: 93 Evinrude 6HP Throttle adjustment

I think I found the culprit and it isn't the linkage or cable.....its the black plastic u shape piece at the carburator that has the roller and connects with the rest of the throttle linkage. The u shaped part seems really weakened for some reason and therefore isn't holding the throttle up against the idle screw, rather, stretching its u shape open and allowing the return to idle aspect to stay way open.
Guess I'll look into getting that little piece replaced.
