I never received an Overheat alarm... the engine does not surpass 3000 rpm.. am I in SLOW mode, or am I not getting fuel or missing a cylinder?

I tried to ground the TAN wire from the Tstat... no sound.. so I may not have a working alarm.. but the engine does not plane.. and from what I am reading, the SLOW mode gets reset when it cools down.. My engine is not "resetting" it is constantly below 3k rpm.. The prop and engine seem to rev like its full throttle but the boat doesn't move.

Ok, I know Im helping the exact same problem on a duplicate post, and these 2 posts are now going to get confusing, but...

The SLOW mode is reset when the outboard is shut off and cooled down.

Also, from the description here, you are describing a spun prop. Draw a line across the hub and prop, run her till she 'revs', then pull her out. If the lines are no longer lined up, the prop is spun, and will need to be re hubbed. If the props condition is poor, you may want to look into a new prop.

Re: 93 evinrude 70HP

Please clarify.

You said "engine does not surpass 3000 RPMs", then "prop and engine seem to rev like its full throttle". full throttle should be around 5500 RPMs

spun prop wouldn't limit the engine revs but it would limit boat speed.

Do a compression test and spark test, report your results.
spark test should be at 7/16".

just checking...was the key "ON" for your alarm test?
