Some of this I copied and pasted from my last post to save time.
My Evinrude would not get on plane without staying on the choke.
I got two carb. rebuild kits, new fuel line connect(on the motor) and a clear fuel filter. Aside from some varnish and flakes in the float bowls I found a nasty looking wad of 'stuff' on the screen right at the fuel pump and fuel line connector was loose and leaking a bit even with new hose connections.
It's running great now except for a few small things.
All you have to do is touch the starter and it starts purring. Idles great.
Seems a little sluggish getting on plane but once it is it runs like a scalded azz ape. Back it down to cruising speed and it sings.
Problem- After running it on plane I slow it down to idle speed and it's fine then it'll 'hiccup' and act like it's missing. Next minute it hiccups again and starts acting perfect.
I'm looking at the coil packs at each cylinder and they don't look bad except for one has some chipping of the plastic around the edges and the silicone backing seems to be peeling.
Would it be worth it to change that pack (or maybe all 4) and could this have something to do with the sluggish accel. to plane?
Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
