Hi guys I have a 93 Johnson 60HP pushing my pontoon.

I am a little confussed on the choke operation. The choke is the push type on the ignition switch. When I turn the key to run and push in I hear a click from the solenoid on the motor. I do not see anything moving though. Should I see anything moving?

When I pump the bulb it gets hard and stays hard. When it will not start I have to remove the cowl and push down on the rod that has the choke that cover the carbs(did that make since?) After that I can start it, once its starts it is fine. I reinstall the cowl and it operates fine thereafter the entire day.

Is there a way to test the operation of the choke solenoid for proper operation?

This might help you out. It's from the top secret file at the beginning of this forum. The click is normal and you won't see anything move. You can disconnect the primer fuel lines at the carbs. to see if you have gas flow. Best of luck.

yes I read that earlier, so I can just remove the hose and see if it is squirting.

Thanks

That's correct. Another way you can prove it is when cold starting, your engine has started and run for a few seconds and sounds like it's about to die. Push in your key and if the speed picks up right away you know the primer gave the carbs. another shot of gas. Rick.
