I have done a search and spent some time looking at old posts on this subject...but did not find what I was looking for since my system is already disconnected. Did not find tips about "removing" the system itself.

My 93' engine has been run without the oil system since 95', since the previous owner had it disconnected. I figure since she is still running fine I will maintaine the way it is...moreover I would like to use the "pocket" in in the hull in which the system lies (under the center console) for a second battery.

There is a line with "bulb" that runs down into the hull. Do I just cut this or what? Is there anything I should be aware of before I remove this system that has been unused since 95'? I do not want to create problems...and I have no real mechanical experience.

T.I.A.

The only part of the VRO that needs to be removed when mixing at 50:1 is the oil reservoir in boat and hose.Just make sure the oil inlet is blanked off near or at the vro pump when removing the hose completely.I assume the alarms have already been uplugged.

The vro pump is located under the lower carburetor area under the engine cover.Just to make sure about the alarms ,once you locate the vro pump, trace the 3 or 4 wire harness that leads from the pump to the wire connector. It should be unplugged. Also there is a 2 wire lead from the vro oil reservoir to its connector under the engine cover that should be disconnected as well. These harnesses disconnected will disable the low oil alarm from vro oil reservoir as well as the no oil alarm from the vro pump. This still leaves the engine with the overtemp alarm.

Always a good idea to test the overtemp alarm once the vro alarms have been disconnected. To test just place the key in the 'on' position(engine not running) and locate one of the tan wires exiting the overtemp sensor on either head and ground it to the engine block.Continuous alarm should sound. You can ground this tan lead by either peeling back its connector jacket or backprobing it with a test lead.
