Just took possession of a 93 johnsonTracker 90 with trim tilt switch on the side of the cowl. tilt motor runs but no movement on the engine. Its been laying on its side in the garage for about a year. Hung it on the boat this am to see if it will fire up. Compression running 100-125 on all cylinders. it fire off now i need to move it outside to get water to it, it won't tilt.
I see a screw that says manual release. How can I tilt this thing up to move it. Motor is all the way down.
Next problem is how do I wire to my binacle control for the trim and tilt. Old engine had wire runnig from the control box directly to the tilt( it was an add on added to a manual 90.

Back the manual release screw out to the stop , snap ring.
Pick the leg up and cycle up and down to bleed system.
Probably has an air pocket from laying down.
Top fluid level up after cycling, then lock manual release screw down (very tight) and try it.

If you can't get the screw loose try an impact driver....the hammer type.

Do you mean out, counter clockwise to the stop?

I've had trouble navigating the site to get back to my post.

I've got a come along hooked to the lift bolt in the fly wheel to help tilt. backed it out to the stop but it wouldn't tilt I'll try lifting or prying next time.

busted loose this time.
thanks a bunch. That's a heavy sucker.
I put the come-along under the torque skeg to help lift now its going up and down.
Next will be getting the wires on the trottle handle routed to the engine lift.
Gotta clean out the oil tank and then we'll see if it'll run.

heheh, you're inventive.!

I think you might be in need of some grease on the pivot .

I was using a car jack under the skeg on my 150, got fed up with it slipping and just hauled it up by hand, didn't know it was possible but it is. Its a Johnson and we're men around here.!
