Is there a way to adjust the neutral safety? I have to hold the shifter in the exact spot for the ignition switch to engage, and if I try to shift into the fast idle the ignition won't engage. Its really tough to get the engine to start without giving it any throttle. There has been a couple times the engine would crank while in the fast throttle, but for the most part it will not.

to access throttle only you need to pull the handel outward or push the button inward

I understand, on my throttle it has a button in the center that you have to push for the throttle only. But even when pressing the button, even the slightest movement of the throttle will activate the neutral safety and the engine will stop cranking. The boat has been sitting for 5+ years, and I am working on getting it back ready for the water. I am not sure if something is stuck from sitting, or maybe worn out from being a '93 model. There were a couple times I was able to press the fast idle and the engine would still crank over when giving it throttle.

Think your switch needs to be replaced or there is something interfering with it

Is there a way to check It? Where is it exactly? Is it the switch on top of the engine hooked to this shift cable brackets or is it in the throttle control?

Its on the shift plate, just remove the wires and all it does is open and close contacts as the switch changes position. The shift plate is where the cables come to on top the motor, the switch looks like the one below. To adjust you need to have it in the center of the notch as shown.

Are you just pushing the throttle only button or pushing the button while moving the throttle?

From your description, it sounds like you are pushing the button in and it pops out as the throttle is moved out of idle. The button needs to be held in as the throttle is moved out of idle.
