93 of 87 octane???

I had a mech tell me that he always used 93 octane gas in his outboards..He said the reason being that 93 oct actually burns at a lower temp thus keeping engine cooler..Is this true?

Exactly. While that used to be true when the fuel had lead in it, it isnt true any longer. Its actually the opposite now days.
