Took the boat out and had a great test drive upriver. About halfway down river I started to smell gas a bit and lost a few 100 rpm. Throttled down to idle and the engine sputtered and sneezed. Throttled back up and ran back to the dock. Checked carbs and found problem with linkage adjustment, had to have slipped. Lower carb was not being allowed to close completely and wot went beyound parallel. I did a sync a few days before after soaking and rebuilding the carbs.
How could it have slipped that much?
Is a sneeze a symptom of this type of carb alignment problem at idle?
On an added note. My flywheel get's substantially hotter than any other component on the engine. It was painted by the previous owner. Should he have done that? Should I strip the paint off to help aleviate some of this heat?
