Title pretty much sums it up. Occasionally, especially when first started, the horn sounds, a chirp every 20s or so. This is supposed to indicate oil level is low, but not low-low.
I have cleaned the oil tank, changed the oil pickup filter sock, blew out the line tot he VRO pump. Other than this symptom, the VRO is working fine.
I'm asking to see if anyone has had this same symptom and maybe figured it out. Thx.

Bad oil level sender in oil tank? I have one that does the same thing. I unplugged the tank sender and no more alarm. But you have to watch the tank level. I try to keep mine full.

I've never found a part number for just the sender, only a replacement tank.

As said above, unplug the tank sender wires and see what happens. It could be a bad sender in the tank as OMC did have probs with them. You can buy the sender only but it will be a '96 or newer unit.

OK thx for the replies I haven't disconnected the sensor yet. I mainly wanted to know if the sensor itself was a common trouble item or if the wiring typically failed somewhere.
