High y'all in a newbee here. May need a little help David met name .I found a 94 200 someone the compression on top starboard was low and like 15 psi lower we'll he took heads off exhust plate off and I'm looking to buy and rebuild. On that cylinder no edge at top. Cylinder does look burnt or scars. The exhibition exhaust chamber looks like has years of carbon buildup. Could that had something do with compression on cylinder. Now I'm a beginner at 2 stoke . and. Can y'all tell me the best service manual to get for this motor. Any help I would appreciate

On the manual, two thoughts: Some swear by the OEM which you purchase from Mercury. I like the Seloc better which is sold by Iboats, top of the page look under Boat Parts and Accessories. You can order online usage immediately....that's what I did and had an instant manual.

Top right problem sounds like low cooling. If the T stats are removed and the engine is run (as I recall.....disclamer) the block cannot fill fully and since the right bank is the higher of the two, that top cylinder gets over heated. Engine has a thermostat at the top of each bank and the pellet stamped 143F for the opening temp.

On a compression check, it could be as simple a carbon buildup causing the ring to stick to the piston and not expand on the compression stroke as it is supposed to to seal compression gasses. That loop charged engine uses pressure backed piston rings that expand on the compression cycle for a better seal since they only have 2 rings to reduce friction (I guess....maybe 2 is all you need with pressure backing). Anyway they have to be free in the piston grove to work properly. Carbon locks them in place and they can't seal properly and you loose compression. The hottest cylinder is a good place to suspect a problem like that which you are referring to in your questioning.

I'd put back what you undid and Google "decarb".....you can also find it herein in the archives. Perform that and run the engine for a few hours with a heavy dose of Sea Foam after the decarb....heavy dose would be 4 x the recommended maintenance mix of 1 oz per gallon of gas or premix, whichever you are running. WM and any auto parts store carries it. WM has it for 6 bucks and some change for the pint can.

After 10 or so hours of that, retake your compression numbers. Tell us what you get.

The man has motor has remove the heads, exhaust chamber, flywheel, Power head off midsection, so how won't b to hard to break it apart remove top piston hone it and new. Piston and ring. One question would u replace all the rings since its apart

won't be a "ring" at tha top like 4 stroke motors... are ya sayin tha cyl (no. 1) is scared?.. don't understand how Tex can say tha aftermarket is a better manual.. maybe for "little motors"?.. jmo though... send me an email addy and i will send ya pdf oem manual for your motor.. it will explain all tha procedures that need ta be done with a rebuild.. ie: tolerances, parts check and etc..... got it tore down ya might as well do tha whole enchilada.. jan. two hottest cyl ona v6 are 2 and 5, top port and bottom star..

forgot... need ta figure out what brought that cyl down more than anything... could be several things.

On manuals, referring to the manual that covered late '90's 75 thru 125 inline 3 and 4 cylinder Mercs. Had the OEM initially and had questions that were answered once I bought online time in Seloc from iboats.

1 n 2 injectors are fired on same ecu driver circuit.. could be inj. harness or ecu itself?
could be injectors.
could be switch box double firing and/or cross fire.

Thanks. Dukedog will ohm the harness wires make sure not shorted. I'll 12 volt to injector and spray carb cleaner thru it make sure it's working. Where best place get good parts. And does anyone ck ecu controll unit.

Send the ECU and injectors to Brucato and have tested/cleaned before repairing motor...
