I have read several post about the great idea behind the tilt assist cylinder, and terrible functionality. Mine has broken several time now and I think I may have a solution but want to hear everyone's feedback. At the base of the cylinder where the cable connects there is a notch in the metal cylinder shaped connection ( after unscrewing the cable connection). When the cable broke with the motor up I could get a screw driver in that notch and easily pry up to release the cylinder. My thought is to put a "c clip" or "e clip" around that notch so the cylinder is always released. I run rivers so I always have the motor in the unlocked position in case I hit something. My only worry is that the c clip could vibrate loose thus engaging the cylinder and locking the motor in the down position. Anybody have any thoughts about this? Thanks so much.
