I haven't had time to get to the boat this year, just found time this week. I had to replace a throttle cable and I put a new impellor on it. It has not yet been running this year, but ran great last year.

I turn the key and the buzzer sounds and does not shut off, a constant low humm. I tried to start it, wouldn't start, seemed like it wasn't getting gas.

I suspect I did something wrong with either the cable or the impellor. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Thanks in advance.

If you have a constant alarm with just turning the key on either your horn is bad or you have a short in the wiring. I would look for a short in the wiring first. Make sure the tan wire from the temp sensors are good. Also check to make sure the yellow and black wire going to the power pack is good. If you didn't check the operation of your engine after taking the controls apart to replace the throttle cable I would start there first and make sure you didn't pinch a cable.

Thanks

I have the remote open and I haven't found a short yet. I have noticed when I start moving wires around (ignition especially) that the buzzer will stop, but I haven't yet narrowed down the exact problem.

But I have noticed that when the ignition is on and the buzzer is not on, that I can hear a very quiet static sound. Should I hear static? I am thinking no, what could it be?

If you can't find an obvious bad connection or short....do a continuity test on each wire. You might have a broken/breaking wire inside the wire insulation.

What about that static? That seems very odd. It is very quiet and barely noticeable to my old ears

I'm guessing that it's just barely making a connection(the short, that is) and allowing just enough juice to make a faint alarm. I'm certainly no expert...just trying to spitball some ideas around.
