What is the recommended operating rpms for a 94 johnson 120 v4 and the recommended prop pitch finally got the engine running good, now the tach is working on and off don't understand just wondering what the rpms should be on wot and what the most efficient prop pitch would be

dont know what kind of boat you have but i have a 120 evinrude on a 18 foot
aluminum fishing boat and i have a 21 pitch stainless and it runs at 5800.i tried a 23 raker last year but rpms were only 5500, and with a 19 aluminum prop it used to run at 6200.

Ditto, depends on boat, load & set up as far as pitch. We've run a lot of V4 loopers on everything from a 20' Dusky (tank) turning a 17" pitch about 5800 to a 15' Allison turning a 25" mazco 8000+.

Now that your tach is working you can test (great excuse to go for a ride) and establish your baseline and work from there.

Re: 94 johnson 120v4

The boat is a stratos 264 16' fiberglass v-hull bass boat. motor came with a 19 pitch prop stock. We have put a 22 pitch prop on the foot and added a 6" jack plate. Still not sure what the proper operating rpm are a wot. Boat is getting about 55 mph with two people and 59 with one. Just feels like the motor isn't running full rpms wot at 4000 rpms. Any suggestions??
