94 Johnson 150 rectifier conversion

My 94 Johnson 150 watercooled rectifier is defective. The item is somewhat expensive and I would like to know if I can simply use a 4 wire rectifier like Johnson uses on the 50 to 60 hp systems? If so how would I feed the tach?<br /><br />If not, is there some other less expensive rectifier I can use on my 150 that will do the job or are these rectifiers repairable?<br />Wayne

The only reg/rec for a 35 amp system is a water cooled one. Kind of unusual for one of the 60 degree units to fail.<br /><br />If you go aftermarket, make sure you use a unit from CDI. Nobody else.<br /><br />Good luck!
