I ran across this motor for sale in my area. I was wondering if anyone had anything to say about this particular outboard-bad or good. I'm a fan of the omc's so I'm kinda excited about this one since I have not come across many. The motor has a good price but one cylinder/piston is damaged. Apparently a nut went through the motor. I'm going to see it tonight. Does anyone know what it would cost (in parts) if it does need a new piston/head/cylinder?

I'd pass on it. Why buy trouble when you can get a running motor. By the time you get it fixed, you may be able to spend the extra bucks it would cost, for one that does run. Plus, ya never know how much damage occured and how much it will cost to fix it until you get into it.. But if you can find a top end cheap, it may be worth a shot if the rest of the motor is solid.
