The overheating, I would first chech thermostats. At higher speeds Poppets provide water, & if it were a pump it would overheat all the time. The oil pump if working if when you remove the cap (Engine reservoir) with engine running it soon over flows. By motion sensor do you mean float sensor, (Oil Level Sensor), in the Engine reservoir, try by passing it to see if it will stop the alarm. As long as you are sure it is the oil alarm, not the overheat, or water in the fuel alarm. As for the tach follow the book it goes through the procedure Good luck, Joe

Does the pump actually fill up the oil tank on the motor or is it filled by the pressure line that pressurizes the tank on the boat?

I believe he means motion sensor ..the one that "see's rotation of the oil pump shaft..
that oil pump places the oil into the fuelfloat chamber , and the onboard oil tank is filled by crankcase pressure to the remote tank..

the oil warning is coming from a bad motion sensor ,or float sensor and maybe the warning module is bad

check your rectifier ..the tach runs off one of the connectors ..usually a grey wire....bad rectifier equals no tach.
worst case is no output from stator ( the two yellow wires)

getting a little hot just off plane is normal ..
overheating is not ..
you are probably just below the pressure it takes
to open the poppit valve.
and the thermostats just dont provide enough flow to keep it in the cool range ...
if you are overheating ..then check your block for flow out of the thermostat holes. if ok ..then new thermostat's are in order
weak water pump vanes will do the same thing ..
they will collapse under high pressure reducing flow..
...but also weak at hi rpm

Thanks for your advice all of you.

I was refering to the rotation sensor.
Yes the motor tank is filed by crankase pressure.
The Motion sensor test OK
I tested the moter tank cap again tonight it test OK
(continuity-down and no continuity-up)
Is there away to test the warning module?

This is interesting:
I pulled the plugs and cranked the engine.
after about six rotations the oil buzzer starts going off even with out the engine running.
(A fast beep beep beep, aaaaaahhh its driving me crazy.)

Where is the rectifier?

I have new stats coming tomorrow
I'll give that a try. My block flow on the port side is excellent the s-board side is a little weaker. Is this normal?

I know, to many questions.
I do really apreciate your advice.

the oil warning module will go off with out engine running .
It see,s output to coils assumes it running .and looks for signal at both sensors ..

some one else may have a way to test the module ..I use another engine ..

tip ..It is not a good thing to crank engine without sparkplug leads grounded..either to plugs or engine ground ..

use the "kill switch" when cranking without plugs installed..

Thanks for the tip.

I quess I am just going to start replacing oil system parts until I nail it.
Starting with the warning module.
Does any one know how much these run?

Well did you ever find out what is cuasing this?
I'm have the same problem you are. Both sensors check OK and the engine is getting oil. I hate to just start dumping money into the hole in the water again.

Thanks,
Lewis

I fixed one , just one, by cleaning out the "hole" that the motion sensor sets in ..was really cruddy
..may not be the problem, but its a "cheap/easy thing to do .

Yeah I did that too. Mine was full of oil from went a breed hose cracked and was dumping oil on the sensor. I'm think my problem is the sensor cause it does not happen very start-up. I know it is the oil buzzer because I got it narrowed down to the black box with all the oil sensors wired to it.

Also another thing, I know the beep-beep-beep is the oil buzzer. Does the water buzzer have a different sound? "beep-pause-beep-pause-beep"

Lewis

test to see if she's charging, if not the odds are it's the rectifier.
Put volt meter on battery whith engine off { reading should be 12, 13 volts}.
Put meter on with running & it should read higher, 13- 17 depending if motor has voltage regulator ..
Always work on electrical components with battery disconnected with these motors, make sure you never ground anything out, keep connections dry & tight.

as for oil alarm, sounds like it may be oil warning module, run pre mix & mark oil tank to make sure pump works, check the module it oftens looks burnt @ connectors when bad if not remove & test, theyre about 90 bucks, rectifiers 30.
