95 120 shift shaft
top of shift shaft, where it connects to the first arm, when arm moves it makes a noise like metal on metal, (klunk). Shifts fine, just that you can hear it. maby there is a gromet or something that belongs there that wore out. This joint does not have a nut, it has a cap that would seem very hard to remove. this problem just started, and by coincidence i took off the control box to fix the neutral button because it was sticking. whan I put it back together the noise started. I cant see how one thing has to do with the other even if I moved the cable in the control box there are nonadjustable arms between the cable and this pivot point. <br /> Now I can raise and lower the shift rod and see it come up from the lower unit. when I pick it up the first move doesn't make noise but then the shaft drops and then there is noise. There is a plastic spacer in place maby its worn. If anyone has knowledge please advise.
