im new to this fourm and id like to start off by saying say hello...

i get a nice running iddle but at 1800 rpms out of the water it breaks up and spits fuel out of the port side top carb somthing new this year last year it ran ok but not great so im trying to give it a 600 hour tune up. i adjusted the crank position sensor to proper tollerence against the fly weel. i rented a throtel position sensor test harness from my local dealer and i will be testing the volts and indexing the sensor for proper voltage. anything else im missing here. should i be looking at a fuel rebuild kit as well.

Re: 95 225 merc tune up question

It sounds like perhaps the fuel pressure is overwhelming the needle valve in the carb. A carb cleaning & rebuild might be in order. Hmmm. Not familiar with that particular motor, but TPS and cam sensor sound like EFI to me...

The main thing you're looking for is that all cylinders are about the same - all within 15% or so of the highest number. Not sure exactly what to expext from this motor, I would think maybe 130-150lbs.

nice..thanx ill be doing a compression check this weekend.

i tested the throtel pos. sensor today and in N i set the sensor to .95 volts and at wide open throtel i had 3.80 volts then upon returning back to N i had 1.3 volts and would never go back to .95 volts with a +- of .5 volts at the N possition can anyone tell me if this is my broken link.....

What is your engine SN? You have an EFI engine, so don't go trying to do any carb rebuilding............. you don't have any.

tags i had exactly the same problem on exactly the same carb and it turned out to be the spring in the float had fallen out an the fuel was like peeing out so i took carbs out and spring cleaned them at the same time
