engine idle speed 2000rpm
good spark
compression 150,150,130
intruduce fuel #1 engine bogs,
#2 engine bogs a little
#3 engine does not change at all.
remove #3 spark plug wire no affect on engine speed
I am leaning towards pulling carbs and cleaning, but am unsure of high idle RPM
Checked timing, idle timing was 5 degrees before TDC. Adjusted TPI - TPI would only adjust to 5 degrees after TDC. In fact it will only adjust to those two settings either 5 degrees before TDC or 5 degrees after TDC no more no less and nothing in between. So I adjusted to 5 degrees after TDC, rpm's came down to 800, but she started weezing, popping, could this be a lean pop? I introduced fuel thru carbs and she would quit popping. still thinking about cleaning carbs - does TPI need replacing?
Thanks
Ed

Cleaned carbs, seems to run on all three cylinders now, but still has this sneeze or backfire when you give it gas and then bring it back to idle TPI still will only adjust to 5 degrees after TDC. After carb clean engine now idles at around 1200 rpm.

Indexed flywheel seems to be OK, engine still wants to chirp and backfire (puff of smoke coming from under flywheel) checked fuel pump - vacum 1-2 hg, pressure 2-3 psi at 2000rpm

is that TPS a switch or a sender? I belive on that model its a sender that gives a varying voltage to the microprocessor, any sensor failure will result in advanced ign timing and it will lock at that degree.
remember on the mikunis you screw the air/fuel screw IN to make it richer.
if the temp sensor, not switch is bad the ign will remain at 5*BTDC, the swich is in the center and the sesnor is on the stbd edge of the water cover jacket.
does your manual cover throttle sensor adjustments ?
