Hey all just trying to learn more about this new to me motor. How do this primer work? Does this solenoid operate each time the motor is cranked? How about when engine is warm?

thanks

The primer solenoid only works when you push the keyswitch in and it just get the engine a small amount of fuel once you push.

Normally you only prime when cold starting, when engine warm you would not need it.
But OB can be individual some need a prime even when warm, you have to learn how it acts.

Every time you push the key in it gives a small shot of fuel.
Unlike the old choke that worked as long as you hold the key in.
Some start on just one prime? some need more?
Try it and see what works?? Once it starts like Nordin said, the primer usually isn't needed.

The bad about the primer: there's a diaphragm in there that can go bad and cause it to not work right.

To test: unhook the tiny hose to the bowl or the side of the carb and hit the key. Should produce a shot of fuel.

Ahh thanks. It seems that the switch on my controller wont turn unless the key is first pushed in, meaning thag the motor would always prime when started. I suppose that something is wrong with this ignition switch?? Thanks

That shouldn't happen????
Try a shot or 2 of WD-40 in the switch.
Unhook battery and test it and maybe another shot of WD

Thanks all. Had the boat out today with control, cables fixed and adjusted. Motor actually is the best runner that Ive ever owned (OMCs only in past). Starts with flick of key. My first Force and Im very happy (so far).
