Sorry, another newbie on site. I have a (according to serial #) 1995 Gamefisher 9.9 that I can't get to run. It will barely start and instantly die. What should the air mixture be? If you hit the primer bulb to much, it will spit gas out of a tiny hole on the side or the carb. Could my float adjustment be off? Possibly sucking to much air, seems like those little spring clamps (which I personally hate) don't hold much where the fuel line connects to the fuel pump. I used one of those test lights that plug in between the spark plug and wire and both cylinders were getting fire. This motor has very little hours on it. I know this is a long post but bare with me with a little history. I bought a 12' semi-v Gamefisher boat with a Gamefisher 9.9 from Sears in 1989. A year later gave it to my Dad for his birthday (ran great while I had it) and he used it a couple of times before telling me he couldn't get it to run. I'm guessing he took it to Sears and they ended up giving him a new motor because serial # says its a 1995. He used it a few more times saying it was overheating and replaced the impellar before it went back to the no starting. I got it back from him in 2003, got it running for about 45 minutes on the lake before it died and wouldn't start. I haven't messed with it since until now. Any idea's or help would be greatly appreciated.

Fuel squirting out of the carb (little brass fitting on the side) when the system is pumped full is normal,,, well at least mine does the same thing.

There are several current threads about the repair of the 9.9-15HP Gamefisher/Force outboards. Give them a look-see and see if they can help solve your problem, here's a few. Try a few of the fixes and get back with us to let us know if you still have problems.

Re: 95 Gamefisher 9.9

Well I put in a new set of plugs ( old ones were dripping wet with gas) and turned the mixture down to one turn out. Tried to start it a couple of times but it wouldn't do anything. It didn't even try to run. I didn't have much time to work on it and I ran out of that, lol. I am going to try turning the mixture out little by little and hopefully find a spot where it wants to run at least good enough to see what it really needs. One of those posts mentioned points, can anyone tell me where they are so I can check them out as well.

This is not a slam; but if you don't know where the points are your probably in over your head, but you probably can learn. The points are under the flywheel. If you have good strong spark there is no need to check the points.
If it has over heated you need to check the compression.Should be at least 100 psi and close to even between cylinders.
Your wet plugs indicate flooding. If it has sat around a lot the fuel system may need cleaning from tank to carb. You could squeeze the primer bulb till firm.unhook the gas line and try to start. This may prevent flooding enough to start. But won't solve your flooding problem.

No slam here, I'm more of a car man. I knew that they were under the flywheel area but couldn't see exactly where and didn't feel like just tearing into it to find them. Its probably like my Harley, I can fix it, but until I broke down and bought a repair manual it was tough figuring things out. I will check the compression to see what it is and check my spark again. I have already cleaned the gas tank and put in fresh gas. I will check the line because I didn't think about it except to make sure it wasn't sucking any air. With this crazy Texas weather, my carb isn't the only thing flooding, LOL, and hopefully later today my yard will be dry enough to check out what you have suggested. I appreciate your help and will holler back with the results.
