Hello All,
Purchased a pro17 from a buddy last week and had it out for a test run yesterday. Have a few isues to iron out and would appreciate input/direction.

My buddy and myself are both mechanics, so working on the unit won't present much of a problem.

The boat side of things is fine, just have to tidy up the electrics end and fit a small fuse panel and isolators for the batteries.

Unit currently has a trolling motor with 24v/12v input. Boat system is 12v and has the second battery in series with the primary for the trolling motor. Both batteries are charged from an onboard dual voltage charger.

Right, now for the important stuff...

Having difficulty identifying the engine from the serial number which is G117034.
Crowley is showing a blank and not helping identify the motor model type.
So far, what I can make out is as follows..

95 Mariner/Merc 60hp 3cyl 2stroke ELPTO

How do I enter this engine type into the online catalogs to pull the correct parts list? What is the correct engine model type number?

Second issue...

Ran it yesterday and it is not charging. Voltmeter is showing 11.5Volts roughly when running. Did not affect me as I had enough juice for the day.

Can someone point me in the right direction to investigate the cause of no charge?
I suspect there may be a parasitic draw and currently think there may be an issue with a faulty diode in the rectifier pack.
Can someone please give me the step by step proceedure for diagnosing this issue? would be greatly appreciated.

Third issue...

As I am unfamiliar with the charging system on this engine can someone please tell me the best type of battery to use? Deep cycle, regular lead acid?
What sort of output does the rectifier produce?

Sorry for all the questions, tried the search function but have not really come up with any specific solutions to my issues.

Thanks for taking your time to respond,
Regards,
