95 Rude 90 Prop Question

Hi All, Great Forum.<br /><br />I have a 1995 Sunbird Fish and Ski 170 with a 90hp Rude. Bought it new. This is the 90 degree, cross-scavenged V4, i believe. Boat came with a 14 x 19 Alum which I repitched to a 21. Everywhere I check they Suggest a 13.25 x 19 SS. Any ideas as to why my motor came with the 14 diameter prop. I run WOT 38mph at 5000 rpm. Boat empty.

Several things come to mind. You may (and I've seen this) have a V6 gearcase. You may not have a 14" diameter prop. You didn't mention the brand of prop.<br /><br />I'm not sure a 14" diameter prop will fit under the plate of a V4. But anyway, let us know!

The prop came with the boat, so I believe it is a OMC Prop. I am almost positive 14 x 19 is stamped on the prop along with the omc part number which I don't have right now. Since the re-pitch, I haven't been happy with my hole shot and wanted to upgrade my prop.(I repitched because of high rpm's which were wrong) Just recently rebuit my carbs and noticed a decrease in my rpms at WOT. I may need to link and sync with a manual rather then playing by ear. <br /><br />Thanks for the info. I will verify and provided the part number.

Do you know the size of my gearcase. Is it 4.25? I am going to try a new prop(Hustler) and a hydrofoil to see if it improves.
