I have '96 115 Merc. There is a small wire located under the oil inj. tank that has come unplugged. Wire is brown with a white stripe. I have used the boat 3 times this year and it seems to run fine. What is this wire for?

Not sure about brn/wht. There's supposed to be a brn wire from trigger to the switch box and a brn wire from switch box to the RPM limiter. Look around and see where the other end of your wire is attached to. Then find where the opposite unconnected wire is...if there is one. What is on the end of the wire, a male/female connector or a ring terminal?

One end should go down through the pan to the trim gauge sender. The two bullets connect inside the cover, lower starboard side. The wire then goes into the harness and up to the console connector on the front of the shifter thingie. It's supposed to go to a trim indicator gauge.

hope it helps
