borrowed this engine from a friend a while back, knowing it had been sitting for years I ran it on muffs before taking it out. needless to say halfway through a day on the water the impeller went to pieces and I didn't catch it till it was way hot. pulled the hood off and it was smoking bad. melted some wire loom but none of the wires. I've replaced the water pump now, as well as thermostat and the temp sensor in the head and got it all back together but I have no spark. I have no manuals for this engine and don't really want to buy one as this is the only time I plan to work on it. any body have a wiring diagram or an idea where I should start. does the overheat safety ground out when hot or go open?

Overheat may damage powerpack!!
Check with a multimeter if signal (about 250 Volts) into the coils. To get correct reading you will need a DVA adapter. If no signal to coils, change powerpack!!

going from memory I believe it is a E25REDA. I was assuming powerpack but was hoping for a less expensive alternative. I would have thought the overheat safety switch would have shut it down well short of this kind of damage.
