I brought my boat to a mechanic because after running and stopping I was having problems restarting. It would not idle and would kill if I did not increse the throttle and take off fast. I also would arrive at the launch and it would kill 3 or 4 times trying to get it on the trailer. I know the bridge rectifier charges the battery but could it cause these problems also ? I do not know this guy and am somewhat suspicious since he is working on the exact same motor I have that he owns. Help...

Rectifier would prevent the battery from charging while the motor was running. You would need to recharge when back at dock.

Well did it fix your problem? A shorted rectifer can cause amp problems and could affect the ignition system.

I have not gotten the boat back yet. But the problem I brought it in for was after running awhile the motor is hard to start. the engine turns over easily I charge the battery each time I go out but it does not want to idle , I have to raise the throttle high to keep it running.
