Just a quick question to confirm what I already think. I took it out and ran it for 5-7 mins and it ran BEAUTIFUL! Then it started to run rough and even killed. I touched the top of the heads after I had it out of the water and the one side seemed a lot hotter than the other. I pulled the T-stats out after it cooled and one was gunked up with little pebbles or shells and was still open and the other was closed. I check the closed one in a pan of water and it opened at 170?.

Question is, will it run rough and even stall if the temps are uneven? I'm going to replace BOTH T-Stats tomorrow.

THANKS!

Compression - OK

Possible it went into QS but you don't check the temp of the heads out of water because they will get hotter when the water drains out. To check the mtr temp properly it should be in the water and warmed up to operating temp. Clean your thermos and try it again.

I know I have to replace one T-Stat. It's stuck open. Let you know once I replace them.

DJkoko, Those pebbles that clogged the 'stat came in thru your waterpump, possibly damaging it. You might think about rebuilding it as well
