So I've finally got the courage up to tackle the deck in the boat. ive gotten all of the deck, foam, and stringers out of the boat and i have started some grinding. im finding wood strips throughout the hull that are glassed over. Some of the areas the glass has delaminated away from the wood and other areas are good. some of the wood is rotten. what are these?bow.jpgdo they need to come out?port under console.jpg

And if they do come out what needs to be done.

got most of the transom wood out today...I dont know how anybody could get that out in one piece to be used for a template.
what a royal PITA. chisel here...pry there...chisel here ...pry there cut here...and there is still some wood stuck to the hull. The rotten stuff didnt have a problem coming (or falling) out. But the un rotten...wow that stuff was hard. transom rot.jpgtransom rot 2.jpg

Anyhow my question is there is a thick lip on the inside of the transom hole...i was thinking about cutting it off. Any suggestions on what to do with that? I have already cut through it with the skill saw to get the wood out so there are some slits in it. Sorry for the terrible quality of these "phone" pics transom hole skin.jpg
