I have a 1996 Four Winns 200 Horizon. The 1996 has a Ford 5.8L engine with Volo Penta outdrive. My problem is intermittent starting problems. About one in every ten starts, you turn the key and .. nothing. Plenty of power to the instruments but the starter doesn't turn over. I've replaced the starter and solenoid. Any ideas? Any help running this down would be appreciated.

5.8 ford?

Guess that doesn't matter. a starting system is a starting system.
Check your keyswitch with a multimeter. Check your start wire for a voltage drop with a meter to.

Go up to the Adults Only sticky at the top of this forum and click on link #2 How to check your starting system.
You may have a Ford and the slave solenoid may look a little different, but you have the same kind of setup ans starter solenoid on the starter.

Or here is the link below. Look at the AO sticky, lots of good stuff there.
