My 96 Intruder 175. The problem is it is taking long time to get up on plane. This is what I have done so far. The other week a shop down in South Hill replaced top coil. They said no fire to top right plug, but had the same problem as described below. The following week took to shop where I bought the boat and they put on dyno, ran 5400 rpm and no breakdown. The tech could not pinpoint a problem. Took it out the next day and would slowly ramp up in rpm, but would not run 5400rpm. Put new plugs in that afternoon. Had club tournament this past weekend and had trouble getting any rpm's. Took the plugs out Saturday evening and all looked the same eaxcept for the top right that was clean. (Looking from behind the boat). The boat at idle sounds good. But do have a vibration and fills like miss when applying throttle. Takes 1/2 mile when rpm's finally start coming up. Two compression checks done in two weeks and they are good. I need help and ideas before I drop a $1000 dollars in power pack and stator.

Re: 96 Intruder 175 HP

Has the shop done a running test with a peak reading volt meter. This should show what is causing the problem on that one cylinder if it is an ignition problem. If ignition checks out, I would use a sqeeze bottle of mixed fuel to feed troublesome cylinder through carb. If problem persists, I would pull the cyl. head, you can't always trust a compression test. I have had a lot of engines where the owner threw a lot of time, and money trying to overcome a bad cylinder.

When you say the plug is clean, is it wet with fuel? Or perhaps wet with water?

Clean and wet with fuel indicates no spark. Clean and wet with water (in #1 in a 60 degree looper)usually indicates the famous "glue seam leak".

I appreciate the quick response from you guys. I will pull that plug tonight and see what it is on that plug. By the way what is "glue seam leak"? After thinking about this, when I have live well full it takes longer to get up on plane. (32 Gallons) This started in spring.
