I have got the oil injection on my motor and after I run the motor it leaks oil down the foot and also fills up the carbs. Is there anything I can do to prevent this or is there anything wrong with it? Thanks.

sounds like you have a leak somewhere, you could eliminate the oil pump, and go premixed gas.

Well, maybe but why does it stop leaking after a few days and also if it was a leak it probably would not fill up the carbs and then run down the foot. I don't know.

I have looked the engine over briefly but have asked a few people and most of them say that the motors with the oil tank above the carb. sometimes biuld up pressure in them and it runs the oil all into the engine.

Another question. Can I use a Minn Kota Maximizer with a Motor Guide trolling motor?

Jabbo,

Start another topic in the Electrics area for your troller question.

Minnkota's maximizer is a technology integral with the motor and controls. There is no convenient way to integrate that system with a Motorguide motor. The advice you are getting for your oil injection is a little suspect. the oil tank must be vented or oil would not flow out of it during normal operation. Since it's vented, pressure cannot build up in it. It would appear there is residual pressure in the injection pump after shutdown which forces oil into the carb.

The info I got did not say is was not vented....It said it was only vaccum vented(oil could be pulled out of it) but was not pressure vented(if pressure built up in the tank from heat or whatever there would be no place for the air to go except to push the oil down to the carbs.Just like a check valve--air can come in thru the cap but not out.I am not sure. And this is on a 16' Grumman.

Also the maximizer I am talking about is a seperate unit from the trolling motor. It is mounted where one can get to it to adjust it and it has 12vdc coming in from battery going out to trolling motor. They no longer make these anymore...a buddy gave it to me.I have not tried it...dont see why it wouldn't work.

Ok, let me ask this. How many people with oil injection and the tank under the cover have to put something under the motor when they get back from fishing because oil will leak down the motor and onto what ever its sitting on?Thanks!
