96 johnson trolling motors ?

I have model no.BfX4pv.97 . was just wondering if anyone had any info . cant find any info. and I cant get any different speeds on the motor just one . A ny info would be great. THANKS.

Was just googling info. motor was 41 lb thrust. but I think it is a 24 volt. Will it just run with a deep cycle battery. ?
I s that why I can only get get one speed ? Because I NEed a 24 volt connection? PLeas e help

Ahhhh - yup! A 24 volt motor needs 24 volts to run. One battery provides only 12 volts. It takes two batteries wired in series to get 24 volts. 12+12=24. Heres the diagram. Warning: Pay attention to the + and - connections.

Hi silvertip, thanks for the reply. I found that diagram last night but I was not sure about that 24 volt thing. T he motor did not say anywere. Do u think I will need another battery seperate for fishfinder. I know I need one more for my starter(making it 3 batt total). The guy who sold me the motor only wanted 25 bucks said he only could get one speed but he had it hooked up to one battery also, all the grounds look good things in mint cond. Do u think that once it is hooked back up properly it will all speeds? Thanks alot hope theres not to many questions.
