Starting has been intermittent and then all of a sudden quit. Ohm'd stator found to be bad. Installed red stator, no help. Looking for other things to troubleshoot. Thanks in advance. Also engine runs the cdms.

I have an open to ground on each of the four wires for the trigger. Is it normal for the stator to take out the trigger like that?

You may want to re-post in the merc outboard forum. The sportjet engines are outboards mounted to a jet drive, they have nothing in common with a normal PWC.

In any case, a bad stator can also fry the ignition module and pulse pack. Personal experience from my larger sportjet!
