It is plenty of power for that boat. I have a 97 sunbird spirit 15.9'with a johnson 50 hp and it does just fine..but test drive it first.. <br />for how much is the deal??

just check out the deck and insides. i had a 97 20' cc sunbird with 150 hp johnson. really enjoyed it, especially the price paid. they are value boats, so you'll have the normal issues- screws need tightening, wiring is a bit messy, etc. but if well kept, should have no major issues. good luck-

it is a good boat for the price but yes the wiring is a mess!.. good price if it's in good condition. I got mine for $3000 no accesories and needed a couple of things done but nothing major.

Re: 96 sunbird opinion

I had a Sunbird for several years - not exactly a high end boat, but then again I didn't pay a lot for it either. Among the annoyances was that the boat was balanced such that, at rest, the cabin drain grate was actually lower than the bilge pump (which was mounted at the aft end - normally the lowest point in a boat). So I had bilge water backing up through the cabin floor. Yeah, and as has been previously said, the wiring (and other stuff you have to poke around a bit to see) was pretty scary.
