96 yamaha 50 4 stroke trim and tilt---advice???

HELP----motor has low hours and purrrrrrs--- Trim motor is 2 years old----still runs but there is no movement up or down---brought to our favorite shop---They stated that there was no fluid in the system and the motor seemed good but after filling it, still no go. They only replace the motors or the whole assembly at that shop---i am not willing to spend $1000. to replace the assembly. I believe it can be repaired---am i right???? Should i just go to another shop because i think it is probably the pump?????? Please help asap------THANK YOU

Yikes! Did you verify the manual trim valve is fully seated, or that the o ring on said valve is intact?

We found another shop that was willing to dive into the hydrolic trim system and he has a used CMC trim/tilt unit---so either way, we'll be under $ 400.
