Help!..1969 Johnson ...I am new here and new to boating in general..I have the motor as listed above and for the life of me cannot keep this thing running, I have rebuilt the Carb, New fuel pump, lines and new tank, replaced coils, points and this thing will fire up then die, if I fool with choke it will run for a couple of minutes at high RPM then die...it was in storage for years and I totaly redid everything as listed...last year I had it out on the lake and after an hour of fooling with it I had it running great for two hours, then when we came back had lunch it would only fire up then die...frustrating, do you have to set the timing on these old girls or just alignment of the flywheel on the keyway keep it timed...anyone have any ideas?<br />Thanks

you may still have a carb problem, when you rebuilt the carbs did you blow out all passages with compressed air ? when you get it running get a spray bottle of pre-mix and spray into the carbs see what happens.

Thanks Jim, I suspect I still have a carb problem although I have had it apart several times already to make sure I have the float set properly, I was debating on buying another carb kit and do another cleaning to see if that is the problem...I did spray fuel once into the carb and it did not seem to make a difference...the float looks right, but it seems fuel is not getting into the cylinders, some fuel drips from Carb as if float is set wrong...really confused

Bluegrass, rather then dig up an old inactive topic, its been 10yrs since anyone posted in this topic, please start a topic of your own about your outboard and the problems you are having.

Old inactive topics (no posts in 90days by whomever started the topic) should be treated like library books: for research only and shouldnt be written in.

Thanks
