Maybe there's nothing wrong but I thought I'd ask. I didn't find a clear answer to my question in other posts so here goes:

I pulled the lower unit over the winter and replaced the cooling impeller. No problem. Have a great tel-tale stream. In fact engine runs great, no problems.

What might or might not be a problem is: At idle, the exhaust seems to bubble out from behind the two side plates (I don't know what they are) on either side of the middle unit near the bottom. These plates (covers) are secured with 4-7/16" bolts which are tight. Also a small amount of exhaust goes out through the bypass next to the tel-tale. At any other RPM over 1000 the exhaust goes out through the prop, and like I said it runs great. No idling probs, nothing. Shame on me for never noticing this bubbling last year before I did the lower unit removal.

I was very perticular about getting the exhaust seals back in place upon reinstallation of the L U.

Is this normal?

Thanks for all your help!
