In the fall of 2006 my shop found evidence of water in the lower cylinder on the port side and changed out the head gasket. At the time I was told there was considerable corrosion and that leakage in the future may become an issue.

Since that time there has been no evidence of water and the motor has run strong. Then 2 day ago I went out. It's was slow to get up on plane and I couldn't get it up to WOT. Ran great otherwise

To make a long story short, I again have found evidence of water. All 3 cylinders this time. Upon investigation I found that I was able to get movement on the heads bolts with very little effort. Obviously the torque has loosed up or something.

The question is this. Can I simply retorque the bolts or should I start over from scratch with a new head gasket?

If I get into it and find that it?s leaking again do to corrosion is there a trick to getting the head to seal that will buy me some time before I have to replace the power head?

I would replace the head gaskets and torque the bolts, then retorque after ~ 10 hours of running (make sure the engine has been at rest for plenty of time before retorquing). The watch regularly. Also, carefully inspect the gasket seating surface before replacing the gaskets.
