I would like to get any and all opinions about the '97 25 horse Evinrude. Haven't seen it yet, all I know is electric start, and of course "runs great"...

If oil injection, is it problematic? Anything to watch out for?

Looking at Evinrude.com, it appears that '97 was the last year this motor was produced.

It comes along with a 1997 15' "Duroboat" (?)aluminum fishing boat with trailer

I appreciate your feedback - Thanx!

Ivanna,

The 25 Rude of that vintage was NOT oil injected. That engine was built after 97 as a Johnson-same engine. It's still offered today.

The 25 OMC's were some of the most durable engines ever built. They were and are still the favorites of many rental fleets.

If its the 3-cylinder 25hp, it would be oil injected (unless of course, someone removed it). The 3-cylinder is one of the smoothest and quietest running ones I've ever seen.

The 25 hp 2-cylinder has been around a long, long time. It's virtually bullet-proof. In fact the U.S. Military Special Ops Teams use many of the 35 hp version of the same motor.

-John
