A couple of nights ago I almost ran out of fuel. Got to the marina and there was very little fuel left in the tank. Idled down to a restaurant for dinner, returning to the boat a couple of hours later. Boat started fine, idled fine (no wake zone)and after about 5 minutes the motor died. Wouldn't restart. Bulb wouldn't get hard. Towed for a while by Sea Tow with motor in gear and eventually the motor restarted. Got back to the dock. Next day bulb was still firm, motor started fine, idled fine but at 4000 rpms it seemed like motor wanted to cut out. It ran fine if I kept it around 3200 rpms.

Sea Tow said it didn't appear that gas was getting in the motor. Would the VRO pump still push oil into the motor while cranking if no gas was going in? Is this related to the problem?

Any ideas?

The Big O
