Post Numero 2. Same boat, different problem. Ran the boat through a sand bank and as you can see the skeg and prop look like they just got sandblasted clean. Prop has never looked better, Pic Attached. Had no temp/water issues after that and flushed out the pickups on the bunny ears and I took off the pee stream fitting and screwed in a water hose and washed out the cooling system from the top (engine off). However, a friend said that sand/debris often gets clogged up in the thermostats and recommended that I take off the thermostat covers and run water through the engine to blow any sand out of there. I could use some more technincal advice on this step.

I assume that I do this with the engine on and water from the bunny ears.

Thanks again. Mike

Nice looking prop, there could be a business in doing that
Engine off, preferable to have Lower unit dropped too

Pull the thermos, put your flusher on it and start it up and run it. After that take it out and run it to check for any overheats.

Thanks Boobie. the thermostats will just pop/slide out and then flush with fresh water muffs. Right? Mike

careful, you do that for long and you will cook your motor and be left with just a nice looking prop.
Probably no biggie though as running without the thermostat covers on will short out your electrics quick smart
