I recently bought a 97 225 Johnson Ocean Runner and had the VRO disconected. The warning horn will sound a constant tone sometimes. It does it when I first crank the motor sometimes and once did it after it had been running about 30 minutes. It even did it not running in my driveway when I forgot to turn the key off. I replaced the fuel filter and the water coming out of the pisser is not very hot. I know that it is getting oil because I mix it. Could it be a bad sensor?

Does it have system check tach with 4 red lights. You have to disconnect wiring harness at VRO pump and wires a remote oil tank. That leaves 3 sensors 2 for over heat, and 1 for fuel restriction. You could have bad sensor, bad tach, shorted wires.

Re: 97 Johnson Warning Horn

I'm not sure the tach is the original one becuase this is not the original motor on this boat. the tach does not have any lights on it. I had a Johnson mechanic unhook the VRO and I have seen where he unhooked the wires from the VRO pump but I'm not sure about the ones on the oil tank. I'll check that out. Thanks for the help.
